GFP/Rodgers Type VI Control Pump Units

Remote Directional Pushbutton Control for a Double Acting Cylinder

USE - This control system is used when it is desirable to have a remote control for extending and retracting a cylinder ram.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS-This control system could be used on shop presses and forcing presses so that the operator could control the ram as the work progresses.

OPERATION-The remote control station is mounted on 15 feet of cable and has three buttons which are used to Press, Return, and Emergency Stop the ram. The PRESS button controls the solenoid operated venting valve and the solenoid operated 4-way valve. When the PRESS button is pushed:

  1. The venting valve will block the high pressure relief valve's vent line allowing pressure buildup.
  2. The solenoid operated 4-way valve will direct low pressure pump flow to the rear end of the cylinder.

The RETURN button controls the solenoid operated 4-way valve only and directs the low pressure pump flow to the front end of the cylinder.
When the operator pushes and holds the PRESS button, a rapid cylinder speed will result initially due to the combined delivery of the two pumps. At 800 psi, the 800 psi unloading valve will unload or "dump" the low pressure pump with the high pressure pump continuing to extend the ram.
When the RETURN button is pushed and held, the low pressure pump will retract the ram.
Check valves hold the ram in position when the pushbuttons are released.
