GFP/Rodgers Type VII Control Pump Units

Pressure Sensitive, Manually Operated 4-Way Valve Control

USE - This control system is used for applications requiring a convenient means for varying the applied load.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  1. Straightening operations on a shop press.
  2. Press fit assembly or disassembly on shop presses or forcing presses.

OPERATION-The pressure sensitive, manually operated 4-way valve operates as follows:

  1. The initial movement of the valve handle will cause the cylinder ram to extend until contact is made with the work.
  2. Further movement of the valve handle will increase the applied pressure in direct proportion to the distance through which handle is moved. A separate adjustable relief valve limits the maximum pressure that can be obtained.
  3. To retract the ram, the valve handle is moved in the opposite direction and held until the desired return travel has occurred.

The ram will stop in position whenever the handle is released.
When a low pressure pump is included, the ram will travel at a rapid speed determined by the combined delivery of the two pumps until the work has been contacted. The 800 p.s.i. unloading valve will "dump" the low pressure pump at 800 p.s.i with the high pressure pump continuing to move the ram.
The pressure required to retract the ram should not exceed 800 p.s.i.
